‘Our aim is Quality Care’.

The Gatehouse Residential Care Home operates as a registered home for the over 65’s under the appropriate regulations. Our philosophy is to provide a homely, friendly, and compassionate environment for all of our residents.

The objectives of the home are as follows:

To deliver person-centred care for each resident in the manner expected, and in a safe and pleasant environment.

To put maximum emphasis on enabling residents to manage their own lives to the greatest attainable extent and to make it possible for them to maintain their dignity, independence, and their previous lifestyles.

To encourage relatives and friends to be involved in the daily life of their loved ones with regard to care, and social and recreational activities.

To recruit staff that share our core values: Trustworthy | Respectful | Compassionate | Empathic | Kind | Reliable.

To have the appropriate staff available within the home to meet the needs of our residents at all times, and to ensure that residents feel comfortable to ask for support as and when they need it.

Staff

All our staff have to have a DBS check before employment starts. Our staff are friendly, professional, helpful & kind. They have an ongoing training programme in areas such as First Aid, Health & Safety, Moving & Handling, Safe administration of Medication, Safeguarding, Dementia & Nutrition.

We have always been lucky to find staff, that are loyal and stay with us for many years.

Meals

At the Gatehouse, we plan all their meals, which are cooked on the premises, to be varied, enjoyable to eat and nutritional. Our cook, Maxine, has been at The Gatehouse for over 20 years. We use fresh locally sourced ingredients, which are delivered daily.

We cater for all nutritional requirements and respond to feedback from our residents, about what they would like on the menu and our menus are never the same.

The Home & Gardens

We have a large garden which surrounds the home, with different places to sit and enjoy the quiet surroundings. We have 1 lounge and a conservatory where our residents can meet for coffee and talk. Our lounge has a large TV.

We have an activities programme, which is designed around what the residents require or have asked to do. We also have a variety of entertainers that come in, from piano players and singers to professional dementia classes.

We have a hairdresser and chiropodist who regularly visit the home when needed and appointments are made to suit the resident's requirements.
